Relaxation that can be achived by utilizing VR as a form of medium to facilitate escapism. Not meant as a long term solution, the audio playground lets the user experiment with different instruments and different tools to produce varying sounds to help relive stress.
The video above provides a concise demonstration of the Audio Playground project. This demo highlights the diverse user interactions within the project, encompassing actions such as walking, exploring the environment, picking up objects, and, most importantly, engaging in musical play. The core focus of the project revolved around creating an immersive experience for stress reduction, with the sounds and music generated by the user serving to reinforce this emotional state. VR technology, in general, is recognized as a valuable tool for escapism, and this project strives to amplify stress reduction by seamlessly integrating audio and VR. Furthermore, the environment itself contributes to a soothing atmosphere, featuring nature-inspired sounds that, in VR, closely resemble a natural ambiance. The project was developed in Unity, employing an asset package to implement XR functionality. During testing, the Oculus Quest headset proved to be a suitable choice for a project of this scope. However, some challenges surfaced, particularly in integrating custom sounds generated through PureData, a sound production software. As a result, pre-made audio clips were utilized and subsequently modified, with integration into Unity facilitated by the use of Wwise.
